SHANGHAI ALLEYWAYS

Shanghai has grown dramatically during the past ten years, with skyscrapers now covering half of the sky. Rows of glimmering glass walls, which symbolize the new Shanghai, overlook the hustle and bustle of the city.
The third tallest building in the world, the 88-storied Jinmao Tower is the most eye-catching symbol of Shanghai. However, a taller building will soon be built next door.
The Oriental Pearl TV Tower is opposite the Jinmao Tower, around which lie the Shanghai Stock Building, International Financial Building, Zhongyin Building, Bank of Communications, and more. Shanghai is not building skyscrapers in Lujiazui but a horizon.
On Nanjing Road, the most famous street in China, the 24-storey Park Hotel used to be the city’s highest building. Now the stylish Plaza 66 (66 stories), CITIC Square and Westgate Mall, compete with each other in terms of scope and height.
The western section of Nanjing Road where these Three Giants are located is a fashionable place for local youngsters. To some extent, these skyscrapers can be regarded as luxurious wraps for the international brand names inside.
European-styled Huaihai Road has also changed. Hong Kong-styled buildings such as Shanghai Plaza and Hong Kong Plaza, have replaced the old. At dusk, the rows of tall buildings shine, a splendid metal luster that electrifies the night.
Xintiandi, a popular nightlife destination for the young and fashionable crowd, lies behind these massive shopping centers.
No one has counted the number of high-rises constructed in Shanghai during the past ten years but everyone knows that Shanghai, the seaside metropolis, will grow exponentially, be as tall as it wants to be.
Skyscraper can also describe the spirit of the city.
